This column will also lead to information of inservices offered by DET, AIS, CEO or other educational institutions, if they provide such information. The events will be offered to members and non-members. JTAN event schedule with more details will be provided later.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS IN HSC SPEAKING DAYS (SYDNEY ONLY)

Please note the following important points for the JTAN days:

1. Teachers in the morning session are to arrive at the venue at 8:30am for the briefing session.
2. Teachers in the afternoon session are to arrive at 12:30pm for the briefing session.
3. Please make sure you are punctual as we only have 15-20 minutes before the arrival of students. Please fill in the Register form upon arrival for JTAN to send you the honourarium.
4. Teachers conducting the mock exams will be given a small honourarium by JTAN. The amount will be determined by the number of participating students.
5. Students MUST arrive at the venue 10 minutes before the starting time for registration. Morning session students must arrive at 8:50am while the afternoon students must arrive at 12:50pm.
6. Students need to bring their own recording devices, eg, tape recorder, MP3 player, etc. if they would like their speaking mock exams recorded because these devices will not be provided by JTAN.
7. Please do NOT bring student teachers or Japanese assistants as they cannot conduct the speaking practices.
8. Tea, coffee and water will be provided during the speaking mock exams. However, please be aware that there is no tea break in the common room on the day.
9. Teachers staying for BOTH sessions please bring your own lunch.

2008 JTAN YR 12 CONTINUERS LISTENING / SPEAKING DAY INFORMATION & APPLICATION FORM

AVAILABLE ONLY TO JTAN MEMBERS

This is a day for Year 12 Continuers Course students to practice their Listening and Speaking Skills with other Teachers. Practice will be in the style of the HSC Speaking Exam and students will receive individual feedback from Teachers.

All students must be accompanied by a JTAN Teacher from their school ( at least one Teacher per 20 students) and JTAN will require active involvement from all Teachers. Please note that Practice Teachers and Assistant Teachers cannot conduct Speaking Practice.

Detailed information will be sent on receipt of the Application Form and payment.

2008 JTAN YR 10 DAY INFORMATION

AVAILABLE ONLY TO JTAN MEMBERS

This is a day for Year 10 students to participate in language and cultural activities to foster their appreciation of Japanese and to enhance their language skills.

Students will actively participate in listening, reading and speaking activities interacting with fellow Japanese students from other schools. They will also have an opportunity to learn about Japanese at tertiary level. A cultural performance will be included.

All students must be accompanied by a JTAN Teacher from their school (at least one Teacher per 20 students) and JTAN will require active involvement from all Teachers.
