Hi Everyone

We hope the term is not causing you too much stress with exams and reports, however the end is near.

Exam Orders

To avoid disappointment it is essential that orders for all examination papers be received no later than 22nd May 2009. Late orders will be accepted, however, they will incur a late fee of $50 per examination paper.

JTAN would like to inform members the cost of special production of any JTAN examination from earlier years than those listed on the examination application form are $80 per exam.

Outstanding Cheques

JTAN requests that any members that have been issued cheques, that they cash these cheques as soon as possible. As you can imagine it can cause a big headache for our treasurer when it comes time to balance the books.

JTAN Workshops

All members should now have received an application form for the workshops that JTAN will be holding this year. This year we will be running a Year 10 Day, Year 12 Beginners Day and Year 12 Continuers Day.

We ask that members send applications along with payment as soon as possible. If you have not received an application form, I have attached one to this email.

JTAN Regional Workshops Policy

One of JTAN's aims is to be inclusive and provide for all our members' needs. With this in mind, we have recently created a Regional Workshops Policy, so that we can provide for all members. The policy is as follows:

  • JTAN will send a Presenter if the Region charges $20 per student (the same as city workshops);
  • motel accommodation is required for the Presenter to be covered by the regional fees paid for by students;
  • JTAN will pay for airfare/transport costs of the Presenter and provide resources;
  • a minimum of 10 students is required however the regional organiser needs to make an effort to ensure all schools teaching Japanese in that region are contacted in order to maximise the usefulness of the workshop by ensuring as many students as possible are able to participate and thus maximising JTAN's resources, especially the time and cost of the Presenter;
  • a suitable venue also needs to be organised;
  • teachers of students attending the workshop must be JTAN members;
  • teachers of students attending the workshop must participate in the running of day by helping to conduct speaking/listening/reading and any other sessions necessary on the day.
