The main aims of JTAN are to provide a place of mutual support and professional development for member teachers of Japanese in NSW. We hope this website will be of help to you.

Recruitment Opportunities

Seeking Scriptwriters for JTAN Video Project - module-based short videos for Japanese Beginners Course

The Video Project (see JTAN December Newsletter 2015) aims to support the Japanese teaching community and can be done successfully with the help of passionate Japanese teachers who can contribute their time and skills.

Please consider contributing to the Project and using this experience as evidence for your accreditation report.

We aim to create a Beginners course targeted resource of module-based short videos, presenting target language and culture in an engaging and fun way through manga, skits and explanations. Each 5-10 minute video will be categorised as one of the following:

  • Basic skills-based (e.g. Hiragana, Katakana, using dictionaries and word processing)
  • Grammar/Function-based
  • Topic-based
  • Text type-based

We are seeking individuals who are interested in committing to this project from April 2016 until the end of March 2017. We would initially like to recruit scriptwriters who will be able to structure a short video and instruct an illustrator with descriptions of scenes and conversation scripts.

Communication between the project participants will primarily be carried out digitally, however there will be some face-to-face meetings as well. An honorarium will be rewarded at the end of the project timeline (May 2017). Appropriate transportation, accommodation and other necessary expenses will be paid to you upon receipt of the original receipts.

If you would like to be a part of this team, please write to Larissa Mitchell at enquire@jtan.org.au with the following information:

  • Your official name, home address with postcode, email address, mobile phone number
  • A video title (or type of video)
  • When you will be able to write the scripts
