Afternoon PL: Changing Trends in the Japanese Language

This free after-school Zoom workshop will be presented by Dr Wes Robertson, Chair of Languages and Cultures and Senior Lecturer in Japanese Studies at Macquarie University. Dr Robertson’s research applies sociolinguistic perspectives to the study of writing systems, with a particular focus on Japan. 

In this session, he will explore current trends in the Japanese language and how they have evolved. The workshop will highlight how the language is changing and offer concrete examples of the shifting ways people communicate in contemporary Japan.
