Afternoon PL: Developing Skills in Stage 4 and Stage 5 to Reduce the Cognitive Overload in Stage 6

Date: 5:30pm – 7:00pm, 31st March

This free after-school Zoom workshop, presented by an experienced Japanese teacher, aims to share strategies to assist teachers in working backwards – developing students’ skills in Stage 4 and Stage 5 to reduce cognitive overload in Stage 6.

This workshop will provide:

  • an overview of the essential skills for a successful Stage 6 language student.
  • strategies to develop these essential skills in Stage 4 and Stage 5.

The workshop is not only for teachers of Stage 6 but also of Stage 4 and Stage 5. The strategies presented will enable teachers to strengthen their students’ skills in higher-order thinking, text types, and more. It is based on the concept of backward mapping, which ensures students are not overloaded when they enter Stage 6.

Further information, the Zoom link and course materials (digital) will be sent to registered participants prior to the workshop.

Note: This workshop was previously presented at the 2024 AGM.
