2023 Extension Monologue Workshop (Teacher Registration)

JTAN is pleased to be able to offer an online version of our Extension Workshop in 2023. Due to the use of the Zoom teleconferencing platform, it is important for you to carefully read the information below when registering.

Event Information

Students will be given a selection of HSC style monologue questions relating to the current prescribed themes and you will have the opportunity to do four (4) sets of HSC style monologue practice of those questions in the following format

• 7 minutes preparation time
• 3 minutes speaking time
• 5 minutes feedback from a teacher

ALL students will attend a one hour presentation on WEDNESDAY 16th August from 4-5pm, presented by Yuko Lawson (Hornsby Girls HS)

Students will then be allocated to ONE 75 minute monologue session beginning at either 9am, 10.15am, 11.30am, or 1.30pm.  It is not possible to give students a choice of session – one week prior to the event students will be advised of your allocated session one and provided with the link to access. Teachers will need to be available from 9am to 12.30PM. An additional session at 1:30 may need to be held depending on numbers, in which case teachers will need to be available until 2:30pm.

Teachers need to be available from 9 to 2:30pm (note that a 1:30-2:30 session will only be held if numbers require it otherwise the day will finish at 12:30, however please assume at this stage that the full day will be required).

On the day: You need to login no later than 10 minutes before your allocated session. You must make sure that your login name and email match the details given during registration or you will not be admitted to the main sessions.

All students attending this event should register directly with JTAN if possible via this link, however, if your school is paying on behalf of the students then please register yourself plus those students below.

Event Information

1. Students are provided four (4) sets of 10 minutes HSC style monologue practices  (7 prep + 3 speaking) + 5 minutes of feedback.
2. Students will only be allocated to one session and must be available to be placed in any session throughout the day. It will not be possible to offer students a choice.
3. Students will be informed directly of their exact practice time one week before the date. Please advise students to attend the pilot session to test their equipment, and to login 10 minutes before their allocated session time. Please also advise them that student who arrives later than the allocated time may miss the practice.
4. Teachers must be available for the duration of the event. Please note the day has been shortened to run in an online format.
5. Teachers registering on behalf of their students will need to collect the following information for EACH participating student before registering:
   1. 1. 1. Name
         2. Contact number
         3. Gmail address for Google Classroom (cannot use school Gmail)
         4. Whether student will login via computer or phone (computer preferred)
6. Due to the very limited capacity each teacher may bring up to a maximum of 8 students. If the number of students is more than that, an additional (separate) application must be made by a second accompanying JTAN Member.
